e-Visa photo team has been introduced to help our applicant with all kind of photo problems. Although we’ve included some guideline in e-Visa website but we are still more than happy to help our applicant with their photos. Before we introduced the photo team, we’ve encountered numerous different kind of photo cases that didn’t acceptable by e-Visa application such as applicant taking photo together with their pet, friends, or family. We also encountered some photo where male applicant didn’t wearing any shirt or some wearing extra such as cap or sun-glasses. These photos are not acceptable for e-Visa application.
But the most common case we found is having a large portion of white background in the photo due to the result of scanning your picture without selecting the picture in the Scanner control panel. This eventually will caused the photo become very small and hardly can see the applicant face.

Our system will detect photo with large white background and issue a warning message.
After knowing this is the most common photo problem we encounter, our development team has implemented a script to detect photo with large amount of white background and will issue a warning message to the applicant. Applicant still can proceed with their e-Visa application but we would recommend applicant to submit their photo to us together with the reference number so that we can help applicant to update the photo into our database after fixing the problem. Remember to read at our photo guidelines before uploading your photo for e-Visa. Below is some of the photo problem we encountered:

Don’t submit photo where you took together with pets.

We recommend not to use photo with 2 person in it. We won’t know which is the applicant.

Large white background will caused the photo to become very small.

Don’t submit the entire passport image to us after scanning, please crop it before upload.
More guidelines can be found in our previous post. Of course, if you are not sure or have any problem with photo, you can always send to photo@mfaic.gov.kh. Click here to watch video on how to remove large white background in the photo you’ve scanned.
We are always happy to help our visitor to fix their photo. We also appreciate some of the feedback from our visitor after helping fixing their photo.

I tried to pay using my Indian AMEX card, but the site refused to take it. Instead, it asked me to pay thru PayPal. What is going on? Don’t you accept international American Express cards?

I have read the guidelines and understand that the photo should not have too much white background.
Is it possible to submit the photo as a word document and not with jpeg or png format?
Tiffany Khan

You can only submit a JPG format of your picture, not in Words. Anyway, we
have a photo team who can help you to crop away the white background. Just
send your original picture to photo@mfaic.gov.kh and we will get the job
done for you :)
