The bilateral relations strengthened over the years through high-level visits between leaders of the two countries. In 24 October 2000, Senior Minister of Minister Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation held a bilateral meeting with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia, HE Mr. Datuk Seri Syed Hamid Albar, who paid an official visit to the Kingdom of Cambodia. Both sides reached an agreement on the establishment of a joint commission for bilateral cooperation between Cambodia and Malaysia and to set up its first meeting in Kuala Lumpur in the following year.

In December 2002, at the invitation of King of Cambodia, His Majesty Yang Di-Pertua Agong Tuanku Fauziah Tengku Abdul Rashid, the King and Queen of Malaysia, led a delegation to pay a three-day State Visit to the Kingdom of Cambodia from 16-18 December 2002. Prime Minister of Malaysia pays an official visit to Kingdom of Cambodia on 26 January 2004, at the invitation of Samdech HUN Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia.
As a return, at the invitation of His Majesty Seri Paduka Baginda Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Putra Jamalullail, King of Malaysia, King of Cambodia pays a 3-days State Visit to Malaysia in March 2006. During the visit, His Majesty Preah Bat Samdech Preah Boromneath NORODOM SIHAMONI had Royal Audience with His Majesty the Yang di-Pertuan Agong XII of Malaysia and also granted Royal Audience to His Excellency Mr. Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, Prime Minister of Malaysia. Such visits deepen and strengthen the bilateral relations between the two countries.

Bilateral arrangements designed to promote trade and investment relations between the two countries have been fruitful as reflected in today’s. To date, Cambodia has entered into 3 bilateral agreements, namely: (1) Agreement on Trade between the Royal Government of Cambodia and the Government of Malaysia which was signed last February 4, 1999; the Agreement between the Royal Government of Cambodia and the Government of Malaysia on the Promotion and Protection of Investment; and the Agreement between the Government of the Kingdom of Cambodia and the Government of Malaysia on Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation both of which were signed on 17 August 1994.

The Cambodia Embassy is located near Ampang Hilir, along U-Thant road, near Langgak Golf. There are several embassy located around the Cambodia Embassy, which are Iran Embassy, US Embassy, Russia Embassy, Chinese Embassy. Besides that, it is located 0.3 kilometre from Lee Garden Apartment.

If take LRT station, take the Putra LRT and stop at Ampang station. Walks towards the British High Commission, and turn right into Jalan Tun Razak. There is U.S Embassy on the left, then turn left after the junction to the Jalan U-Thant. The Cambodia Embassy is along the road.
